Gathering

Our family spent the day doing what we do so well in tough situations…gathering, loving, dividing and conquering, and most of all feeling gratitude.

Bernadine got out all the photos and we laughed as we looked at some of them and spoke about the memories they bring.

Check out Jan’s and my short track shorts in this one. And then there’s me, being the ‘angel’ that I am, and I’m sure hating every second of being in a dress.

I wore Jan’s jacket all day again and went for a Harley ride to have some him and me time. The Fall colors are so beautiful.

I’m so grateful for my eyesight so that I can witness Mother Nature’s beauty. With my Father’s death and the sadness it brings, and now with my brothers, I am reminded that no matter what turmoil any of us go through, whether it be the death of a loved one, a divorce, losing a job, or any other sadness, there is always more beauty and goodness in the world than there is bad. We always have far more to be grateful for, than things to bring us down. It’s a choice, and to me, it’s clear which side to choose.

Though my heart is broken and emotionally I feel at times like I’m hanging by a thread, I am still surrounded by my beautiful family, and my phone and email has been filled with loving and encouraging thoughts. We are never alone. Amid the longing and sorrow, I feel peace, and for that I am so deeply grateful.

Thank you so much to those that requested and contributed to the GoFundMe account for Jan to help cover funeral costs. We are eternally grateful to you for your generosity.

For those who have not yet heard, Jan’s funeral will be on Friday, October 9th. Viewing for family at 9am then 9:30am – 11am for everyone. Followed by the funeral services, and then Jan’s Last Ride. Anyone with motorcycles please bring them to ride with us. We will ride to the cemetery for the graveside service, which is less than a mile away, then back to the church for a meal.

Thank you for your unending love and support.
