Gun Cay to Bimini

Posted on

We have been enjoying a magical time here in the Bahamas. This morning we played around on the paddle boards and watched the sharks and sting rays as they gracefully swam around us. The water was so still and clear, we could easily see every detail on the ocean floor. Spotted Eagle rays, skates and bone fish meadndered around below Tanda Malaika as the warm sun slowly raised higher in the sky. Danny flew his drone overhead and videoed the spotted eagle rays.

After raising the anchor we headed north toward Bimini, and stood in awe of the incredibly beautiful shades of blue. Even when the depths finder showed depths of 75 – 80 ft, we could still see the bottom completely clearly. Large schools of flying fish periodically flew as our bow neared them.

We thought we’d explore the anchorage in Bimini, and as we entered we reeled in the lines and realized that we’d caught a tuna. We enjoyed it as part of our dinner tonight.

Jonathan, Danny and I grabbed snorkel gear to check out the neighborhood while everyone else jumped in the dinghy and went to shore to check out the neighborhood. We saw many lobster but didn’t have anything to catch them with, as well as beautiful schools of reef fish.

Not long before sunset we made our way over to a nearby wreck, which I will post about in my next blog. Our dinner was shrimp and fish tacos, which everyone seemed to thoroughly enjoy. The close has come to yet another amazing day here in the Bahamas, and we are so grateful to be sharing it all as family.
