Slow Monday
Since I wasn’t feeling too great today, I didn’t do much, but enjoyed the day none the less.
One of the creatures favorite things that I make is potato salad, so this morning I cut up and boiled several potatoes and eggs, and prepared a tasty salad to add to dinner tonight. I had a hankering for baking bread, so while the creatures were at the beach, I mixed up some dough.
For me, there is nothing like the feeling of warm bread dough in my hands. I love it!! By the time everyone came back from the beach I had 4 hot loaves fresh out of the oven, and they enjoyed thick slices with honey butter on it. I’ve found that cooking at sea level in a gas oven, I have to raise the oven temp by 50 degrees and cook the bread for 50% longer.
This afternoon I took a nap and woke at 5:30pm, just as the sun was getting ready to set. The sunset was so beautiful once again. There’s something so tranquil about sailboats and sunsets…
I thought of Jan a lot today. It’s been 4 weeks now, and though I said the words to Danny earlier, “My brother has been dead for 4 weeks today,” saying he is dead is so far from what I feel and know. He is so alive and so very present. For those feelings and insights, I am so grateful.
Tomorrow will be another wonderful day, and I look forward to it.
